Jewish Community Alliance
David A. Wolf is an active member, volunteer, and leader at the Jewish Community Alliance (JCA) located in Jacksonville, Florida.
The JCA is a member of the JCC (Jewish Community Center) Association which has over 350 facilities and camp sites within the organization.
The national organization, through the services and activities provided at the individual facilities, offers a wide array of educational, sports, health, fitness, and community programs for members ranging in age from newborns to seniors.
The Jacksonville JCA (Jewish Community Alliance) has members throughout the community including children, teens, adults, and seniors.
While the mission of the JCA focuses on Jewish values and traditions, the Jacksonville JCA has a diverse and strong membership of members of varying ages, occupations, professions, family dynamics, and religious affiliations.
At its core, the JCA is a community center that helps promote the health, well being, and education of its members, guests, and the residents of the North Florida area.
The Jacksonville JCA has an indoor pool, outdoor pool, high tech fitness center, group exercise classes, clay tennis courts, and a Nationally accredited pre-school – the Michele Block Gan Yeladim (Hebrew for “Garden of Children” Pre-School). The Michele Block Gan Yeladim Pre-School is accredited through the NAEYC – National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Mr. Wolf and his family have been members of the Jacksonville JCA since 1998.
The children began attending Gan Yeladim at the age of 2 and the school and its fine teaching staff was instrumental in providing quality early education for the children.
The school gave both children an excellent educational foundation as they entered elementary school. During the time that the children attended the Gan Yeladim Pre-School, Robin Wolf (David’s wife) dedicated her time and skills as the Co-Chair of the Early Education Committee.
Volunteers, like Robin and David Wolf, made sure that the tradition of quality education and child care continued at the Jacksonville JCA.
Years later, Robin was employed at the JCA as the Director of Adult Programming where she organized and led programs including off site field trips and excursions for the adult and senior members of the JCA.
Following her employment tenure at the JCA, Robin continued to volunteer at the JCA and actively participates in JCA programs like the tennis team where she has served as Team Captain.
Through the years, Mr. Wolf has been consulted on legal and financial matters by the JCA. Mr. Wolf takes pride in the accomplishments of the JCA and is proud to be a member for over 14 years.
Over the years, he has been counted on and consulted by the JCA Executive Staff on a number of issues and matters.
In addition, Mr. Wolf has lectured at the JCA to members on the issue of Living Wills, Wills, and Health Care Surrogate Matters and also participated in the JCA Health Fair as a business participant.
As part of this commitment to the JCA, Mr. Wolf was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2009 where he serves with leaders and other volunteers to oversee the work and activities of the JCA.
In the same year, Mr. Wolf served as an ambassador for the Jewish Book Festival by greeting and hosting the keynote speaker – Martin Fletcher – author of the book Breaking News: A Stunning and Memorable Account of Reporting from Some of the Most Dangerous Places in the World.
Mr. Wolf was honored to meet Mr. Fletcher and serve as his host during his time in Jacksonville.
Mr. Fletcher’s career has included work as a NBC News’ Middle East Correspondent correspondent and the Tel Aviv Bureau Chief. He is the author of a number of books and articles.
In 2010, Mr. Wolf was awarded the New Leadership Award by the Jacksonville JCA.
Mr. Wolf continued to serve on the JCA (Jewish Community Alliance) Board of Directors through 2012.
In 2012, Mr. Wolf was re-appointed to the Board of Directors for another 2 year term and then was appointed to serve as the Treasurer of the JCA.
As the Treasurer, Mr. Wolf helps review and oversee financial matters with the Executive Director, Finance Director, Board of Directors, and the Budget and Finance Committee.
Mr. Wolf proudly serves the JCA along with other dedicated volunteers and professionals as the Jacksonville JCA plans to celebrate its 25th Birthday in 2013.
As part of the celebration, David and Robin Wolf are working with Allison Jacobs, the Project Manager of the 25th Birthday Party, by serving as the Committee Chairs for the Time Capsule Committee.
The Wolfs will help coordinate efforts to fill a Time Capsule to be buried and unearthed in the next 25 years and also help out with the retrieval of the Time Capsule that was buried in 1988.
